Join us for the second annual Mike Hammond Memorial Hockey Tournament, a special event dedicated to raising awareness for Youth Community Programs and Mental Health and honoring the legacy of a beloved hockey player and friend, Mike Hammond.

Last year was a huge success. We raised over $6,000 that went directly to youth leagues and programs. We are grateful for all the support we received, and we know the community support will be even bigger this year.

Mike’s passion for the game, his enthusiasm, and his unwavering support for others left a lasting impact on everyone he met. This tournament will celebrate his love for hockey and provide an opportunity for the community to come together to support a cause Mike held dear: helping youth through sport.

All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the Mike Hammond Bursary & Youth Community Programs, which will provide financial assistance for kids to participate in sports, helping them experience teamwork, discipline, and personal growth that Mike cherished.

Bursary Highlights

Few highlights IBHA and team provided 2 bursaries, one to the Cowichan Valley Capitals and one to the Victoria Grizzlies, both teams Mike had great success within his junior days, both received $1000 dollars each.

Why Men’s Mental Health?

Mental health is important, and Mike’s story reminds us of the significance of supporting one another. This event opens the conversation about mental well-being, particularly for men, and promotes awareness, understanding, and support within our community.

Tournament Details

Entry Fee: $980 – email admin@ibha.ca to secure your spot (deposit)
Date: December 27, 2025
Divisions: 8 teams Max — A/B divisions
Games: 3 games guaranteed
Perks: Pizza and Samosa’s for the players
Entertainment: Poker games
Prizes: Raffle prizes/draws and 50/50 draws and silent auction
Roster: Max roster: 16 players and goalie – will try to accommodate free agents
Location: Lake Cowichan Arena
Proceeds: All proceeds go to the Mike Hammond Bursary for kids’ sports and community programs to support all youth.

Let’s come together to honor Mike’s legacy and make a positive impact for youth sports, while also highlighting the importance of mental health. Your participation, whether on the ice or in spirit, will make a difference.
